Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is developing plans to expand exchange-traded funds (ETFs) beyond Bitcoin (BTC), according to a Bloomberg report. SEC Secretary-General Pornanong Budsaratragoon announced that local mutual funds and financial institutions will be permitted to issue cryptocurrency ETFs under new regulatory frameworks. "We are now looking to broaden the criteria to include baskets of cryptocurrencies," Pornanong stated. "Our goal is to increase the diversity of crypto assets available in ETFs." The regulatory move aims to attract younger investors seeking cryptocurrency exposure for portfolio diversification. Thailand continues to advance its digital asset infrastructure, including through "G-Tokens" representing tokenized government bonds.
