Ethereum Fusaka Upgrade Successfully Passes Holesky Testnet, Mainnet Launch Imminent
01.10.2025 18:48
Ethereum's upcoming Fusaka hard fork has cleared a critical milestone with its successful deployment on the Holesky test network, accelerating progress toward mainnet implementation. The Fusaka upgrade follows shortly after Ethereum's major Pectra update and specifically targets cost reduction for institutional participants operating on the network. A key innovation introduced is PeerDAS technology, enabling validators to verify partial data segments instead of complete blobs, significantly lowering operational expenses for both layer-2 solutions and validation entities. Testnets like Holesky serve as crucial development environments where new protocol features undergo rigorous testing before mainnet deployment. Although Holesky's validator architecture closely replicates mainnet conditions, the network has recently demonstrated aging infrastructure concerns. Fusaka represents the final upgrade for Holesky before its scheduled decommissioning two weeks post-mainnet activation. Subsequent testnet validations are calendared for October 14 and 28, after which core developers will finalize the mainnet launch timeline. Ethereum Foundation engineer Parithosh Jayanthi confirmed the achievement, stating: "Holesky finalized! A crucial advancement toward Fusaka mainnet deployment and enhanced blob capacity on Ethereum."
