Crypto Millionaires Jump 40% as Bitcoin Drives Market to $3.3 Trillion

The number of cryptocurrency millionaires worldwide has soared to 241,700, marking a significant 40% increase over the past year, as detailed in the Crypto Wealth Report 2025 from Henley & Partners.

This growth aligns with a major market rally that pushed the total digital asset market capitalization to $3.3 trillion in June, representing a 45% year-on-year surge. The report incorporates data from global wealth intelligence firm New World Wealth.

Bitcoin (BTC) continues to be the primary engine for wealth generation in the crypto space. The count of BTC holders with portfolios valued over $1 million surged by 70% year-over-year, reaching 145,100. At the highest tiers, the report identifies 450 individuals holding at least $100 million in crypto assets, and 36 crypto billionaires.

Analysts highlight a shift in the use case of digital assets, with Bitcoin increasingly being utilized as collateral rather than purely for speculative trading. This evolution is positioning BTC as the foundational layer for an emerging parallel financial ecosystem.

"Bitcoin is becoming the foundation of a parallel financial system, where it functions not just as a speculative investment against fiat currencies, but as the base currency for wealth accumulation," stated Philipp A. Baumann, founder of Z22 Technologies, within the report.

Wealth Without Borders

The decentralized nature of cryptocurrency is reshaping global wealth distribution. Investors are increasingly exploring citizenship and residency programs to manage regulatory risks while ensuring access to favorable banking and tax jurisdictions.

The Henley & Partners Crypto Adoption Index ranks Singapore, Hong Kong, the U.S., Switzerland, and the UAE as the top five most attractive destinations for digital asset investors.

With more than $14 trillion in wealth crossing borders last year, the report emphasizes that the portability of crypto assets—secured simply by a seed phrase—signals a fundamental departure from traditional, location-bound financial systems.

"Today, cryptocurrency has made geography optional. With just 12 memorized words, an individual can secure a billion dollars in Bitcoin, instantly accessible from anywhere, be it Zurich or Zhengzhou," said Dominic Volek, Group Head of Private Clients at Henley & Partners.
