BOB & LayerZero Launch BTC Cross-Chain Transfers Across 11 Blockchains - DeFi Breakthrough

The Build on Bitcoin (BOB) DeFi protocol has introduced a revolutionary system enabling Bitcoin (BTC) holders to seamlessly transfer their assets into decentralized trading applications with just one click. The "BOB Gateway" integration connects native Bitcoin directly to LayerZero's omnichain fungible token (OFT) version of wrapped BTC (wBTC.OFT), bridging across 11 major blockchain networks including Ethereum, Avalanche, Base, Optimism, and Sei. This breakthrough solution addresses the longstanding challenge of cross-chain Bitcoin transfers, eliminating complex bridging processes that previously posed technical barriers and security concerns. Users can now convert between native BTC and wBTC.OFT in a single step, dramatically simplifying access to yield farming, liquidity provision, and advanced trading strategies across nearly 15,000 decentralized applications. The integration has already facilitated over 67,000 transfers totaling more than $2.3 billion in wBTC.OFT volume through LayerZero. By enabling direct Bitcoin inflows, the gateway promises to unlock substantial new liquidity for DeFi markets that utilize wrapped bitcoin as collateral and trading pairs, potentially mobilizing billions in previously inaccessible capital from both retail and institutional investors.
