YZi Labs, the $10 billion family office established by Binance co-founder Changpeng "CZ" Zhao, is exploring the possibility of opening its doors to external investors, according to a Financial Times report. The investment firm, which recently rebranded from Binance Labs, is considering a transformation into a full-fledged investment fund. Ella Zhang, Head of YZi Labs, confirmed the company is evaluating this strategic shift due to significant external investor interest. While YZi Labs possesses strong expertise in Web3 investments, Zhang noted the company is still developing its capabilities in emerging sectors like artificial intelligence (AI) and biotech. The potential move follows Zhao's increased focus on YZi Labs after stepping down as Binance CEO. Typically, family offices manage wealth for a single family and do not accept external capital, making this a notable development in the crypto investment space.
