Anthea Secures $22M Funding to Launch Revolutionary Ethereum-Based Life Insurance Policies
08.10.2025 17:51
Anthea, a Bermuda-based cryptocurrency life insurance provider, has successfully raised $22 million in Series A funding led by Yunfeng Financial Group. This investment will support the launch of the world's first life insurance product denominated in Ethereum (ETH), marking a significant milestone in blockchain insurance integration. The company aims to bridge traditional life insurance with blockchain technology, using the capital to accelerate product development, expand across Asian markets, and enhance its crypto-linked insurance platform operations. Unlike typical crypto-insurance products that focus on cold storage protection, Anthea has received preliminary approval from the Bermuda Monetary Authority to offer policies denominated in digital assets. The insurance structure mirrors conventional life policies but operates entirely in cryptocurrency - handling premiums, claims, maturity payouts, and loans in ETH. This innovative approach caters to crypto investors seeking protection without converting their digital holdings to fiat currency. Anthea also plans to integrate blockchain payment systems and explore yield generation opportunities from crypto reserves. CEO Alex Pei emphasized that this funding represents a strategic partnership with investors who share their vision, noting backing from established insurance and fintech industry leaders. Yunfeng Financial Group, holding Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission licenses, maintains a controlling stake in MassMutual Insurance and possesses long-term insurance licensing from the Hong Kong Insurance Authority.
